Linlithgow Bridge Primary School Parent Council

Information for Parents and Carers

What is the Parent Council?

The Parent Council is a group of parent and carers, who work in partnership with the school. Its main purposes are to:

  • Represent the views of parents and carers
  • Support the school in its work with children and families
  • Build strong links between school, home, and the wider community
  • Help organise or support events and fundraising activities
  • Contribute to discussions about school improvement, policies, and priorities

How does the Parent Council work?

  • Membership: Any parent/carer can express interest in joining. A Parent Council member is needed from each class, along with a Chair, Secretary and Treasurer.  Members are confirmed at the first Parent Council meeting of the school year.
  • Meetings: Meetings are held online four times a year, at least one in each school term. Dates are advertised in advance, and all parents are welcome to attend.
  • Decision-making: The Parent Council works collaboratively, sharing ideas and feeding back the wider parent community's views. Final decisions are made by the elected members of the Parent Council.

How to get involved

There are several ways:

  • Become a Parent Council member - attend meetings regularly and contribute to decision-making.
  • Volunteer for events - help with one-off activities, fundraising, or practical tasks.
  • Share your expertise - whether it's finance, communication, event planning, grant applications, or just enthusiasm, every contribution helps.
